Man it's cold

Wow. The first day of winter has hit with some gusto. It's about 11 below (F) with windchill of about -35. However, everybody is home as we have started Christmas vacation. We're not traveling anywhere this year, so it should be quite relaxing. I am updating the site and adding a few months worth of photos. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Back to School - 2008-09-07

We had a great summer! Lots of good vacation time, hanging out at the pool, and we probably had the best summer weather I can ever remember in Chicago. Now we're back in school. Joey is in 6th grade, Tommy is in 4th grade, Kelly is in 2nd grade and Jackie started preschool.

Spring in Chicago - 2008-05-23

Updates and thoughts

May in Chicago is great. Joey recently qualified for the Illinois State History Fair with his project on The Chicago Fire and how it tied to his great-great-great-great grandfather Anton Finkl. He received a Superior ribbon (the highest level)! Way to go Joey! The kids are excited as the end of school nears. We've got quite a few trips planned this summer. Wash DC, Virginia Beach, Utah and Mexico! I will be updating the photo album this weekend with a bunch of new pictures.

Winter 2007/2008 - Will it ever end?

We've had snow and ice on the ground pretty much since Christmas. The kids of been pretty healthy though, until the last week when Jackie got a cold and Joey got pneumonia - ugh! Meanwhile, Tommy has turned 9 and Joey turned 11. Time does fly when you are having fun!!!!

A Holly, Jolly Christmas

We're having a great Christmas vacation. Christmas eve with Grandma and Papa Lorr. Christmas morning opening presents, then off to O'Hare to fly to NY to have Christmas Dinner with Grandma and Papa Corless. Came back to Chicago on 12/30 and went to a family oriented New Year's Eve party last night. Now we'll get to relax, play with toys, and update the website. :)

Fall 2007 - 2007-10-13

Things are smoothing out.

The family is fully in the normal swing of things. Kelly and Joey have adjusted to the new school (The Science and Arts Academy). Tommy is still at Rose School in the 3rd grade. Kim is usually busy with the kids, and if she has a few spare moments, is educating herself and others on gifted education, especially gifted education for children with exceptional needs (often called Twice Exceptional). Work is pretty normal for me. I just got back from Buenos Aires - what a great city! The Mets pulled a great choke at the end of the season, and the Bears look lame, then the Cubs get swept in the playoffs - maybe it's time to move back to Boston!

Back to School - 2007-08-25

A busy week indeed!

School started this week, at least for Tommy. He's still at Rose School, while Joey and Kelly won't start until Sep 10 at the Science and Arts Academy. Also, our backyard turned into a bit of a lake this week as we had tons of rain every day. Our next door neighbor had his basement flood and had to rip out all of his carpet - good thing we have 3 sump pumps.

Family Vacation - 2007-07-28

Myrtle Beach, SC

We almost missed our flight this morning as we had much trouble getting Tommy checked in. No one ever explained why. Then we got to Charleseton, SC and United had left two of our bags in Chicago. Next, the rental car only held 5 people or 6 people and no luggage. Oops. We got poured on while switching cars. The two and a half hour drive to North Myrtle Beach wasn't too bad. As I write this, our bags have arrived in Myrtle Beach and should be delivered shortly.
